The professional

The official Japanese peripheral market leader, Hori, recently announced a new Horipad 3 Pro, a wired, turbo enabled, adjustable d-pad having controller for the PS3 to much fanfare (most of which was not warranted, appreciated, and which was, in the end undermined by news sites posting the press release hours before the countdown ended). That pad didn't look too interesting, and the rotational d-pad seemed gimmicky and tacked on. Just this morning I got an email about a new Fighting Commander 3 Pro, featuring the same rotational d-pad. This makes a hell of a lot more sense, since the d-pad on a fighting pad will actually be used for more complex motions than just pressing left and right to toggle between the assault rifle and sub machinegun. Both products are available for pre-order at Play-Asia, but not Hori's official US store yet.
